What is a Weight Loss Boot Camp?

The Weight Loss Boot Camps have been part of our story since I opened the doors in 2007. The program was created to offer a fitness workout for people whose focus was simply weight loss and our results speak for themselves. We have hundreds of success stories in the community.

The best way to burn fat is to combined interval cardio training and resistance exercises which will lead to a stronger fitter body while giving our members the results they are in search of. And this is how we design our Weight Loss Boot Camp programs by creating a program that jump starts people’s metabolic rate.

I always highly recommend 2 days of the weight loss boot camps a week plus 3-4 classes such as spinning, step, yoga, hiit, hurricane and/or lift. The Weight Loss Boot Camps give you what you need for a total body workout and then you use the other classes to help increase your results and get you to your goals!

How Do You Lose Weight?

There seems to be so much confusion out there about how to lose weight. We all have different goals and timelines. Some people want to lose weight fast, others simply take their time. It’s more about what works best for you, however there seems to be this great debate of the 80/20 rule when it comes to weight loss. Let’s take a look of what’s the best plan of action to lose weight.

What is the 80/20 rule for weight loss and is it accurate?

We have all heard it’s 80% what you eat and 20% what you do in the gym to lose weight, but in my coaching opinion, the results I have seen in my programs (and there have been countless success stories at Inner Fit) is it’s 100% nutrition and 100% fitness. You simply cannot have one without the other, if you are in search of being healthier and stronger with the hopes of losing body fat.

Let’s look at it this way – let’s say someone diets only. They lose 50 lbs from lowering their caloric intake but didn’t add fitness to their journey. Sure, they have lost 50 lbs and feel good, but what is their fitness like? What kind of body do they have? How does their body feel in tight clothes?

Now, let’s take a look at someone who only worked out at the gym but made no changes in their nutrition habits. Chances are they may have lost 10 or 20 lbs but most likely only saw a weight change in the beginning and now they are struggling to lose anymore weight. On the bright side, they are probably in great shape on the inside with improved cardio, more muscle tissue (so important as you age), and feel overall better – but they are not close to their goal.

Finally, let’s take a look at someone who lost 50 lbs through nutrition changes and a regular (4-7 days a week) fitness program. I am willing to bet my education and experience that they have a body they love, a fitness level that is unlike they have ever experienced and lost all their goal weight.

For example, take our long time member Poppy (featured above). Poppy has worked hard keeping up her fitness and always pushing herself along with changing her nutrition and staying consistent over the past 6 months. The results – she has lost over 40 lbs!! And one of the things I love about Poppy is she has had the best attitude the entire time. She loves her fitness classes and regularly attends (never making any excuses) along with being a staple in our community and she has in turn motivated not only me but the members of the community! Plus she has the best laugh, especially when Jeremy is bugging her! Poppy lost her weight with a combination of fitness and nutrition.

It’s always better to do a combination of both and take both into account. Give your all when it comes to your fitness and set goals that scare you and when it comes to nutrition start by cutting out the crap (we all know what crap food is) and add more nutrient dense foods into your life by educating yourself on healthy foods, yes – you have to do the work but the payoff is awesome!

  4. Clean up your nutrition
  5. Get an accountability partner or community because you need support
  6. Set weekly mini-goals and targets to keep you on track of your goals (weigh-in)
  7. Do something that scares you fitness wise at least once a month!
  8. Reach out and ask for help when you need it!
  9. Remember that we all screw up so move on and keep moving forward
  10. Celebrate your successes along the way!
